So nearly two weeks ago I had my fist Creative Media Practice Production seminar and the theme of the session was Documentary and Experimental approaches to documentary. This is basically my write up of that session.
We began by trying to define Documentary in general which proved a little tricky, we thought however these phrases and words described Docs quite well: Informative, Factual, Minimalist (focusing on content rather than style), Interview, Realism, Context of time and place, Perceived and Portrayed as fact and story constructed by fact. We also identified several Genres within Documentary such as: Political, Wildlife, Social, Comedic, Mockumentary and more. We then saw some different approaches to short documentary that changed my opinion a little. The analysis of the Docs will be posted here shortly.
